MVLHOLLAND

Alt-pop artist MVLHOLLAND blends the biographical with the fantastical on 'No Plan B', her thrilling debut EP that charts a narrative course of her own making, covering the terrains of heartbreak, addiction and searching for the missing pieces. "It's following a story of how life works."

For 21-year-old Grace Mulholland, imagining new futures and making them a reality has always been possible.

She first began songwriting and singing at age 11. Soon, acting would pique her interest and she'd immerse herself in characters before realising that fitting someone else's idea wasn't as fun as taking control of her own image and moulding it into new shapes. "I realised I could write my own music and I could make my own perfect role and I could do it all."

Through it all, her parents – a model and hairdresser who "lived the full nineties New York rockstar life" before Grace came along and they settled in Bali – provided endless encouragement and plenty of inspiration. "I grew up surfing every day and doing music. We always had people coming and staying in the house." Those visitors included Divinyls front woman Chrissy Amphlett, who taught Grace to sing I Touch Myself at age five. "I was around very influential and powerful musicians and it just kinda made me feel like it wasn't impossible," Grace says.
